At Freshare, we know the journey to happiness and contentment is not easy and it’s definitely not a “one size fits all” situation. For this reason, our team has created a site structure filled with useful practices and activities that anyone can use for healing and growth. Regardless of your circumstances, the Freshare site is here for you in your time of need. Featuring, but not limited to:
• Notifications/check in reminders for active self-care
o These reminders will include motivational messages and things to do throughout the day (i.e. “Go for a walk,” “Read for 20 minutes,” “Smile, today is going to be a good day!”).
• Tracking to build sustainable habits and goals
o Users will be able to fill out forms about their mood(s) and any activities they partook in during the day.
• Community posts/discussion groups
o As part of mental wellness, a supportive and productive community is important for positive growth. Discussions that do not violate Freshare guidelines will be permitted.
• Journaling
o A space within the site is available to make private journal entries, using your login information.
• Meditation/yoga
o Freshare customized routines are available, along with links for other meditative resources.
• Emphasis on purposeful inclusivity and accessibility
o The site is available in various languages and has modifications based on different disabilities.
As users continually interact with the app, they receive points that contribute towards their daily streak, as an incentive that will make them come back.
One of the amazing creators of this site, Courtney, was browsing mental health statistics and was baffled at what she saw. Her being a young black woman where mental health is often stigmatized, her passion for mental health and community change arised a spark. This led to meeting other scholars in the Kode With Klossy camp who are passionate about mental health also and coming together to create a safe space where everyone can talk about mental health! Freshare is genuine, Freshare is gentle, Freshare is kind.
